MIA

This is from week 24 but I think it depicts my absense the past few months.  As the days get warmer and longer, we seem to find ourselves busy, busy.  Since the girls are in year round school, we are still in full on school mode, at least for a few more weeks.  My office work has been crazy, hectic the past few months so when I get home at the end of the day I'm pooped but there is still dinner, homework, baths, and housework left to do.  At the end of the month we're looking to slow the pace down a bit and head to the beach for a little fun and relaxation.  We CAN'T wait!!
Until then we'll spend our free time enjoying the pool at Tootsie and Pop's house!

Week 13 - Sisterhood

These two spunky little girls just don't seem to get tired of one another!  They spent several days on a spring break adventure to Little Rock with their grandparents while me and my boys spent some time at home.  In my experience, when I share long car rides, meals, awake time, asleep time and every other time in between with someone, anyone, the one(s) I love, etc., I need some me alone time!  I am now 7 years into this twin thing...it was around the end of March in 2005 when I found out I was pregnant and by April we were adjusting to the news of two hearbeats!  Even after all that time, I still don't fully comprehend the connection our girls, as twins, have.  I'd say 99.9% of the time, they completely love being around one another.  It's heartwarming while confounding at the same time to me!  Even if I never "get it", they've got it and I pray they maintain it for their entire lives!

Catching Up! Week 10, 11, 12

Week 10:
On a beautiful Sunday morning in New Orleans, I ran in my 2nd 1/2 marathon with Candace, her sister, her brother, her sister and law and Korrie.  It was a great day and fun way to spend a weekend with a really great group of people.  Per CDC, Lisbon in 2013!

Week 11:
We had some really great Spring weather here in Shreveport prior to the first day of spring.  Trees have been budding and flowers have been blooming since early March.  I caught these beauties bursting forth outside of my office building.  I love the spring season...rebirth, renewal!

Week 12:
Sam celebrated St. Patrick's day as a pirate.  That's totally Irish right?!  Arrrr...

Week 9 - Five is fab

I somehow managed to take a bazillion pictures of Sam's 5th birthday extravaganza. We celebrated his actual birthday on Thursday with a pizza dinner at Johnny's, his request. On Saturday his nearest and dearest friends came over for a totally out of this world, Star Wars, party, complete with a bounce house. It was a perfectly beautiful Saturday, not too hot, not too cold...we could not have asked for a better day. After lots of sugar and lots of fun, we headed to my grandparents' house for a birthday lunch to celebrate the birthdays of my uncle, my dad, my son and my cousin who were all born the last week in February (years vary!). Sam soaked in every moment and really enjoyed himself so that made my heart glad which was also a little sad. My baby is growing up too fast, way too fast.

Happy Mardi Gras - week 8

What a great way to spend a beautiful Sunday afternoon...family, friends, fun!  The Highland Parade is always a great time and this year it didn't disappoint and it was extra exciting as we got to see the Wiggins family up on a float, tossing bead to us.  Way to go Rendi, Josh and Sanders!

a winter day - week 7

What do you do when it is 32 degrees outside with a windchill of 25? Well, if you are me and Candace, you go for a very cold 10 mile run but if you are one of the Greer trio, then you build a fort in the warmth of the house. We had planned on going to the Krewe of Centaur parade late in the afternoon but after being outside for an hour and a half, I decided it was in the best interest of our family stay home and play with friends...much better, much warmer choice!

the joys

of having a best friend...someone to look up to...someone to laugh with...someone to share your thoughts and feelings with...someone to cry with...someone to share life with...someone that loves you despite your flaws and insecurties...thank you Lord for our friends, especially our BFFs!

(as a side note, I did not realize Gracie's friend had on a "Friends" shirt until I was posting this entry...pretty cool!)

Think pink

Just a few short hours after my new niece was born in Colorado, the Denver area was blasted with a winter storm dropping a foot and a half of snow near my sister and brother in law's house. While, they are experiencing near record snowfall, I found my first azalea bloom, in FEBRUARY! I, for one, am not complaining about our recent springlike weather. Give me 70 degree temperatures in the winter over shoveling snow! However, let's visit again in the middle of August when it is 99 degrees at 10 pm and we'll see how I feel about snow then.! For now I'm enjoying the blooms~

Spider man Sam

I cannot believe my baby boy will be 5 in just a few short weeks!  He delights me as much as he frustrates me, probably because he can read me better than some who have known me much longer.  Even if we battle at night for a good night's slumber, he greets me the next morning with a hug and kiss.  Oh, how I treasure those kisses!
Samuel Scott, you will be my baby boy forever!

Grace, grace

Sweet Grace.  Heart of gold.  Uber sensitive.  A sister anyone would want.  A friend to the end.  I love this little girl!
But don't let all of her sweetness fool you; this one has a stubborn streak a mile wide!  Once she digs her heals in, it is virtually impossible to move her until she decides to move.  Her therapists at school told me that they see that trait often in preemies. From the moment she took her first breath, she had to fight a little bit harder than Haley to survive; what is natural and normal for most babies did not come naturally or easily for her.  But six years later, she is a tough little first grader, reading, writing and singing her way through life.
Amazing, amazing Grace.

Post party laundry room - Week 4

Sunday afternoon we celebrated the upocoming birth of a sweet baby girl.  The shower was at our house and it took a lot of prep work to get Casa Greer in tip top shape for guests!  In order to get "stuff" out of the dining and livng areas, the laundry room became the dumping ground.  The house shinned, the guests dinned, the fellowship abounded and the baby was loved; however, it may take the better part of the week to sort through the mess and make sure it doesn't end of back on my dinning room table.  All worth it of course!
As a side note, the laundry room isn't well organized on a good day, but it was the actual selling point of the house.  We were moving from a precious 1930's house (that I still miss from time to time, memories...) but the washer and dryer were in the middle of the already cramped kitchen.  I'm not one for washing, drying, folding and putting away a load of laundry all at one time, so clean and dirty clothes scattered across my kitchen with 3 children age 2 and under was a bit of a nuisance; plus there were the two black labs!  Of course, I'm grateful we had the hook-ups, but when we (I) saw the beauty of a room, dedicated solely to the purpose of laundry, I heard the angels sing!  Ok, a little dramatic, but I love my messy little room where I can pile it high and still shut the doors, hid from the eyes of unsuspecting guests and I now I guess all of the www!

Week 3 - a sweet Sunday

Week 2

I've been trying to take my camera with me on a daily basis and be on the look out for moments to capture.  As I was heading home from work week before last, I  noticed the moon peaking out and instead of being annoyed at the red light (which I can never seem to catch green!) I rolled down my window to snap a pic.
As most people know, I am not the cook in our home.  With a husband who enjoys it and is good at it, I sit back and enjoy the fruits of his labor!  However, I am usually on pancake duty on the weekends because I can mix batter and water for some mean flapjacks!  However, last Sunday I was feeling extra domestic and decided to make begium waffles complete with sliced strawberries and whipped cream.  I thought it sounded delicious and was excited about the special surprise from my precious children.  That feeling was quickly replaced with frustration and anger as they turned their noses up at my special creation!  Sad, sad, but I will try again!

This afternnon was quite beautiful and almost spring like so the kids spent a good amount of time playng outside.  I happend to catch them in the act of playing nicely together; when it's good, it's good but when it's bad, it's bad.  I much prefer the time as seen below!

I hope everyone has a great week and I hope to keep the camera clicking!!

52 week challenge

For the few of you loyal readers, you'll remember that last year I attempted Project 365 in which I planned on taking a picture every day and blogging about it.  Well, life happens and a picture a day did not!  So when I entertained the thought of trying again, I was encourgaged to set a more attainable goal - a 52 week challenge involving a photo each week!  Do-able?  I sure hope so!
I'm off to a good start so here I present a photographic snapshot of December 31-January 6!
